Volunteer Highlight: Leo Wells
Leo Wells is a retired corporate executive whose career in sales and marketing spanned industry leaders like Google and Yellow Pages. Today, he’s channeling that same strategic mindset into something even more impactful, serving his community.
After relocating to Foley, Alabama with his wife, Sarah Ann, Leo began volunteering with the South Baldwin Literacy Council as a Career Advancement Program tutor. What started as a way to give back quickly grew into a deeper commitment. He now serves on the Board of Directors, helping guide the organization’s mission and expand its reach.
But Leo didn’t stop there.
Over the past several years, he has become a familiar face across multiple organizations in Baldwin County, including The Sea Glass Initiative and Ecumenical Ministries, always stepping in wherever help is needed, no matter how big or small. Whether it’s strategic guidance or hands-on support, Leo shows up.
His impact is matched by his partnership at home. His wife, Sarah Ann, is also deeply involved in the community, volunteering with children and supporting operations at the South Baldwin Literacy Council through bookkeeping and treasurer work. Together, they represent the heart of what community service is all about.
Leo’s journey is a reminder that getting involved doesn’t require a perfect plan, just a willingness to start.
That’s exactly what the Volunteer Switchboard is here to do.
If you’ve ever wanted to give back but didn’t know where to begin, this is your invitation to step in, get connected, and make a difference.
