Growing Impact in Action
What Happens When Purpose Meets Support
Some of the most meaningful impact doesn’t happen overnight, it grows.

Foster Kids Matter began the way many nonprofits do: with a simple desire to help. Founder Amy stepped into the world of foster care as a parent for nearly eight years. After adopting her two children and closing her home, she knew her role in serving children in care wasn’t finished.
What started in a garage, with heart, determination, and a calling to do more, quickly became something much bigger.
In just a short time, Foster Kids Matter has experienced significant growth:
Hundreds of children served each year through their Hope Bag program
Year-over-year impact increasing by more than 60%
Funding growth of over 500% from its first year
Expansion from a garage → to storage → to a dedicated warehouse space
Development of a growing board and team to support long-term sustainability
"The Leadership Academy gave me the clarity and structure I didn’t have when I first started. It helped me move from just doing the work to actually building something sustainable behind it.
The relationships and support that came from it have been just as important. Now I feel confident in our growth, knowing we have the right foundation in place."
- Amy Schulz, Founder & CEO Foster Kids Matter
And they’re just getting started.
Through leadership development, community connections, and ongoing support, Lee Charities has had the opportunity to walk alongside Foster Kids Matter as they’ve grown.
From participating in the Leadership Academy to building relationships across the community, securing volunteers, and gaining support through events and partnerships, this is what it looks like when the right people and resources come together at the right time.
This isn’t a finished story.
It’s a glimpse of what’s possible when passion is supported with structure, strategy, and community.
